The Team
Jean and Keith Stuffins
Jean and Keith both became Christians in their teens (some years ago!) and are both directors of GBS Radio. They have two adult children, and worship with an evangelical fellowship on the Wirral, where Keith serves as an elder. They first came into contact with GBS in 1958 when they went to see a film about the missionary radio station in the Philippines called FEBC International. Following this they started to attend the monthly GBS prayer meetings at the A. C. Mitchell Church in Liverpool, and their interest in Christian radio was born.
In 1960 Bert Ralfs, one of the founders of GBS, invited Keith to help in the production of an English language programme that was being produced for broadcast from FEBC to S. E. Asia. This was "Search the Scriptures", the forerunner of our current Bible-teaching programme "Discovery." So began their long and continuous involvement in the work of Christian broadcasting.
Down the years there has been the opportunity to gain experience in many aspects of radio, including producing and presenting programmes, writing and editing scripts, and answering listeners’ letters. Now, in addition to this, there are administrative responsibilities and the production of the "Discovery" booklets that are sent to listeners who respond to the programme.
As they look back they can see that this has been a definite calling from the Lord, and it is a privilege to be involved with such an exciting and challenging work for Him.
Brian Knight
Brian has had an interest in things electrical and electronic from about the age of 10. After school and college studies and working in various industries, he qualified as a Chartered Electrical Engineer. The majority of his working life has been spent in the petro-chemical industry, as a senior electrical engineer, until he was given early retirement at the end of 1999.
The Lord saved him during my early teenage years. The church he attended was led by Sidney Bowen, who also broadcast a stamp collecting programme called "The Hobby of Kings" with Keith Stuffins over short wave Christian missionary radio stations. Will Rankin, a former contributor, was also one of the Elders at this church. This together with his interest in electronics lead him to have an interest in GBS.
A number of years later he believed the Lord was calling him to use my technical skills in the ministry of GBS. He expressed this interest to Bert Ralfs and was subsequently appointed a director of GBS in August 1988.
Much of Brian's time is spent undertaking maintenance and construction of the studios and recording equipment.
He is married to Kath and has two adult daughters. He worships at an evangelical church on the Wirral, where he is an Elder.
Dixie Dean
Brought up in a small market town on the border of Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire, Dixie became a Christian at 15 years of age.
He soon developed an interest in Christian music and in 1973 joined one of the first full time Christian pop groups "Parchment" as their sound engineer. This brought him to Liverpool where he met his wife Cheryl.
On marrying and settling down he moved to Liverpool and joined the Merseyside Police.
Cheryl and Dixie now live in the south Liverpool suburb of Halewood Village. They have two sons, one who is now married. They both attend Grace Church, Halewood, which meets in the local leisure centre. He has retained a continuing interest in Christian music, including playing bass guitar in the church worship band. Dixie is also a member of Gideons International.
Dixie was introduced to GBS by Alan Morrell, a former contributor, who thought his many skills in recording and computers may be of benefit to them. He is actively involved in the development of GBS and assists in recording sessions of Discovery. He also maintains this web site.
Michelle Dalton
Michelle is the newest member of the team. Michelle lives on the Wirral with her son Tom. She plays an active role in contact with Christian radio stations and produces 'Discover' our quarterly newsletter for supporters.
She attends Jubilee Church, where she assists with the crèche. She very much enjoys nothing more than sitting and watching Top Gear with Tom. She is also an '08' volunteer for the City of Liverpool, where she assists visitor enquiries.
